In 2021, the Detroit Lions finished the season with a 3-13-1 record, which earned them the No. 2 selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Despite their lack of wins in 2021, the Lions’ first season under head coach Dan Campbell, there is plenty of hope floating around that they can turn things around in 2022.
In fact, some people (including myself) believe that the Lions could make a push for the NFL Playoffs in 2022.
PFF writer has VERY BOLD prediction for 2022 Detroit Lions
During a recent article published in Pro Football Focus, Sam Monson lists his bold predictions for the 2022 Detroit Lions and his No. 1 prediction is certainly bold.
As you can see, Monson’s No. 1 prediction is, “The Lions make the playoffs.”
Here is what Monson has to say about the Detroit Lions making a HUGE jump during the upcoming season.
1. The Lions make the playoffs
This has been a fashionable bet all offseason, and a lot of it has to do with how favorable Detroit’s schedule is this season. The Lions’ rebuild has been progressing well over the past couple of years, and it wouldn’t take much of a jump this season for the team to insert itself into the wild card race.
The offensive line should be great, the Lions suddenly have a stable of pass rushers that could become an impressive rotation and they have significantly more receiving options than a season ago. Quarterback Jared Goff may provide a ceiling to how good the team can be, but we know that Goff’s potential is much better than his play last season, and improving his supporting cast is a good way to bridge the gap between those two outcomes.

What is really interesting is that Monson’s No. 3 bold prediction for the Lions is that they will have a bottom-five defense in the NFL during the upcoming season.
Honestly, I don’t see how the Lions could possibly make the NFL Playoffs with a bottom-five defense.
Nation, what do you think? Has Monson lost his mind? Is he just being bold for the sake of his article? Or, do you think the Detroit Lions could actually make a push for the playoffs in 2022?
