The Detroit Pistons (4-10) have lost their fifth straight game tonight, this time to the Chicago Bulls (5-10) by a score of 109-89. The Pistons never got it going tonight, trailing the Bulls almost the entire game. After a three-point shot from Bulls guard Ryan Arcidiacono, the Bulls were able to take the lead 35-34 with 10:31 remaining in the second quarter and the Bulls were able to hold on to the lead for the rest of the game.
Chicago native and Pistons guard Derrick Rose led the way for the Pistons off the bench with 18 points. All-Star forward Blake Griffin scored 16 points tonight, to go along with eight rebounds on 4 of 15 shooting from the floor. After watching tonight’s game, it’s safe to wonder whether Blake Griffin is really healthy.
Andre Drummond grabbed 14 rebounds tonight and continues to be dominant in that area, but only scored six points on 3 of 10 shooting. Drummond will have to make his presence felt more on the offensive side of the court if the Pistons want to win more games this year. Luke Kennard was more aggressive tonight after only going 2 for 5 from the floor in his previous game against the Hornets in a losing effort but was only able to score 14 points tonight on 4 of 15 shooting from the floor. The positive take away here is that Kennard was looking for his shot tonight instead of shying away from it, and his shot will fall if he continues to look for it if his early-season success continues to carry over.
The Bulls were led by forward Lauri Markkanen. Markkanen scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to help the Bulls win tonight. Shaquille Harrison scored 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds and five assists with three steals and a block to complete tonight’s gem. Tomas Satoransky also scored 15 points as well for the Bulls, while adding seven assists and two steals.
The Pistons have tomorrow off before they take on Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks at home this Friday at 7 PM.
