Pistons fall to Knicks 108-96 as losing streak builds to three

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 24 as the New York Knicks defeated the Detroit Pistons 108-96 at Madison Square Garden.

The Pistons trailed by seven heading into the fourth quarter. Both Anthony and former No. 2 overall pick, Derrick Williams, helped the Knicks put it away in the final frame, as New York outscored Detroit 29-24 in the fourth.

For the Pistons, Ersan Ilyasova led the team in scoring, dropping 19 points on 8-15 shooting. Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris each added 17 points of their own.

With the loss, Detroit falls to 17-15 on the season with a matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves looking on New Years Eve.

Additional Notes & Observations

  • As has been a story for much of the season, the bench let the Pistons down again tonight. Before being put in with the game out of reach in the closing minutes, Detroit’s second unit managed just 12 points. In comparison, the Knicks bench scored 39.
