Pistons may be best served focusing on youth against Bulls

What: Detroit Pistons vs. Chicago Bulls

Time: 7:30, Fox Sports Detroit
Where: The Palace of Auburn Hills Auburn Hills, MI
The Detroit Pistons are coming off a loss in Philadelphia to the lowly 76ers, returning home to take on the Chicago Bulls. Now usually I would sit here and make up three keys to winning this game. But right now, the Pistons don’t need to win anymore games. The Pistons had their shot at the playoffs, pulling within a half game of the 8 seed in mid-February. Then a 10-game losing streak pushed them out of contention and back to lottery land. With 14 games left, the Pistons should honestly experiment.
Head coach Stan Van Gundy should play Quincy Miller at SF over veterans like Tayshaun Prince and Caron Butler. I want to see more Spencer Dinwiddie and less John Lucas III. I want to see the offense run through Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. I want to see more Andre Drummond post-ups and more chemistry development between Dinwiddie and Reggie Jackson. Also, I would let Greg Monroe sit. Monroe has a knee injury and I wouldn’t rush him back into the lineup.
That’s what I want to see from this point on. For Van Gundy to see what he has in Jackson, to play the young guys more often, and experiment with unlikely lineups. That’s the point we’re at right now, where the Pistons have no shot at the playoffs and the only excitement we have is thinking about the draft and seeing the young guys develop.
So as you watch tonight’s Pistons-Bulls matchup, just keep in mind that you’ll be able to scout the younger players on the roster. You can play “be and NBA scout”! Also, if the Pistons fall tonight, just remember that it’s for the better.
Prediction: Bulls 105 Pistons 91
