The Detroit Pistons have enlisted producers from the comedy website Funny or Die to bring a spark to the promotion game. Their partnership began on Media Day as Lamorne Morris of New Girl fame took the time to bring a handful of Pistons onto his own personal game show dubbed The Backboard.
Morris, among other things, had Jodie Meeks call his brother, Andre Drummond look into a crystal ball and Cartier Martin teach him how to take a charge. But, without a doubt, the best part of the video comes courtesy of Steve Blake and his “Tearaway Khaki” sales pitch.
Usually, other than a few quotes here and there and some funny pictures, there isn’t too much that comes out of NBA Media Day, but Detroit went above and beyond this year with the Funny or Die video. Let’s hope this is the start of a fruitful season-long partnership.
