Player to Watch David Perron- The Red Wings will lean on Perron tonight against his former team

The Detroit Red Wings are finishing their west coast trip tonight by taking on the Pacific Division-leading Vegas Golden Knights with a 10:00 PM puck drop. This is the Wings' second and final matchup against Vegas this season. The Red Wings dropped the first game against Vegas 4-1 in Detroit. The Wings' record against the Golden Knights dating back to last season is 1-2-0, and they are outscored 11-8 in those three games.

Tonight’s Red Wings Player to Watch: David Perron

David Perron played for the Golden Knights during the 2017-18 season; he has also played for St. Louis twice, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, and now Detroit. In his career, he has played in 1,015 games over a 16-year career. Last season for St. Louis, he appeared in 67 games scoring 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 points; he would have tied for third in points if he had been on the Wings last season.

David Perron has gotten hot despite the Red Wings' recent skid, as he has scored two goals and an assist for three points in the last two games. This season he has played in 42 games scoring 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points, putting him fifth on the team in points.

Perron has shifted around in the lineup this season, appearing on the top three lines at one point or another; for this one, he is expected to play alongside Michael Rasmussen and Andrew Copp.

Perron plays on the second power-play unit alongside Robby Fabbri, Dominik Kubalik, Filip Hronek, and Jake Walman.

  • Perron has ten power-play points on the season coming on three goals and seven assists.

Perron’s career against Vegas could be what lead’s Red Wings to victory

In his career against the Golden Knights, Perron has played in 18 games scoring six goals and eight assists for 14 points.

Perron did not factor in the goal-scoring in the first matchup earlier in the year. But he had one goal and four assists in three games against Vegas last season.

This past road trip has been challenging for the Wings as they have gone 0-1-1, managing to get a point against Arizona in a game they should have won. A win in this one would salvage the trip and bring the Wings home on a positive note.
