Player to Watch: Lucas Raymond – The Red Wings’ hottest player looks to stay hot against Columbus

The Detroit Red Wings will wrap up their three-game homestand against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. This will be the Wings' third game against the Blue Jackets this season, with Detroit winning both games, the first game was a 6-1 victory for the Wings in Columbus, and the second game was a 4-2 Wings win in Columbus.

Tonight’s Red Wings Player to Watch: Lucas Raymond

Lucas Raymond has shaken the idea of a sophomore slump, and he will ride that into a matchup against Columbus. He has appeared in a total of 122 games in his two-year career, all with Detroit. Last season Raymond appeared in all 82 games for the Wings, scoring 23 goals and 34 assists for 57 points, good enough for third on the team in points.

Raymond has been on an absolute tear as of late, scoring three goals and four assists for seven points over the last five games, and even hotter than that, he has two goals and four assists for six points in just the last two games alone.

This season he has scored 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points, good enough to rank him third on the team in points and goals. Also, this season he has played on the first and second line, but he has now gotten back to playing with former linemates Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi, with whom he played most of last season.

Lucas Raymond plays on the first power-play unit alongside Larkin, Bertuzzi, Dominik Kubalik, and Moritz Seider.

  • Raymond has also played on the second power-play unit this year.
  • Raymond has 14 power-play points on the season on five goals and nine assists.

Raymond Against Columbus A Key Factor in the Red Wings’ Upcoming Game

In his career against the Blue Jackets, Raymond has played in five games scoring three goals and five assists for 8 points.

  • In the two games this season against the Blue Jackets, Raymond has one goal and two assists for three points.

The Red Wings will need Raymond to play as he has in the last two games, resulting in wins to continue their win streak. If he also plays as he has against Columbus in his career, the Wings’ will be able to sweep the season series against the Blue Jackets.
