For a couple of years now, we (and plenty of others) have suggested that the Detroit Red Wings move on from Jeff Blashill and hire Lane Lambert to be their next head coach.
After all, Lambert and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman are buddies and go way back.
As you know, Blashill will not return for the 2022-23 season and plenty have speculated that Lambert is the favorite to be hired as his replacement.
Well, just moments ago, the New York Islanders announced that they have hired Lambert to be their next head coach, replacing Barry Trotz, who was recently fired.
