On Saturday morning, a report surfaced that Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, despite dealing with a painful injury to his ribs, is preparing to play on Sunday vs. the Tennessee Titans.
Following the report, David J. Chao (Pro Football Doc) took to Twitter to explain that Stafford will likely need a “rib (intercostal nerve) block injection” to play vs. the Titans. Chao added that just wearing protection such as a flak jacket will not be enough as just twisting at all will cause Stafford pain.
Nation, should the Lions play Stafford on Sunday?
#MattStafford will likely need rib (intercostal nerve) block injection to play. No way just protection (flak jacket) is enough as even twisting torso would cause pain. https://t.co/5JTN1hfYYr
