Pro Football Focus: Detroit Lions should sign DE Greg Hardy

The Detroit Lions already have one of the best defensive ends in the NFL in Ziggy Ansah. But what if they were able to sign a very talented free agent DE to play on the other side? Sure sounds like a no-brainer, right?

Well, what if that DE was none other than Greg Hardy? According to Pro Football Focus, Hardy should sign with the Lions prior to the 2016 season. Here is what PFF had to say about the situation.

“I’m not sure which team to put as a good fit here, as there may not even be a market for Hardy. If the Cowboys soured on him so much that they reportedly have no interest, then others around the league may follow suit. He’s still a dominant 4-3 defensive end, though, and only 28 years old. The Lions would immediately have one of the most feared pass-rushes in the league if they added Hardy.”

There is no question about it that Hardy has the ability to be one of the best pass rushers in the league, but is his off the field baggage just too much for a team like the Lions to take on?

Hardy, who is 28-years-old, was found guilty in July of 2014 of assaulting an ex-girlfriend and he was sentenced to 18 months probation to go along with a 10-game suspension from the NFL.

In 12 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, Hardy had six sacks to go along with an interception and a forced fumble.

What do you think, Nation, would it be wise for the Lions to roll the dice on a player like Hardy?
