Projecting the Detroit Tigers 2021 Opening Day starting lineup

The Detroit Tigers were actually in contention for an American League wild-card spot for a bit in 2020, but for those of you paying close attention, you knew it was just a matter of time until the lack of big-time talent on their roster would catch up to them.

That being said, 2021 will be a new year and though the Tigers are still a couple of years from truly contending, they could make some moves to solidify their starting lineup.

Without further ado, here is my projection for the Detroit Tigers Opening Day starting lineup.

C – James McCann (Bring him home!)

1B- C.J. Cron (Though Miggy wants to play 1B!)

2B – DJ LeMahieu (Brother Rice grad and batting champ!)

SS – Willi Castro (Very solid rookie season in 2020)

3B – Jeimer Candelario (Proved me wrong this year)

LF – Christin Stewart (Last chance)

CF – JaCoby Jones (Mr. Smooth)

RF – Victor Reyes (can he prove himself over 162 games?)

DH – Miguel Cabrera (even though he wants to play 1B!)

As you can see, the only two new faces in 2021 (in my opinion) will be McCann at catcher and DJ LeMahieu at second base. I can see the Tigers also adding a free agent LF because Stewart has truly struggled, but since they are still a couple of years away from competing for a championship, they may as well give him one last shot in the outfield.

Stay tuned for what I believe will be the Tigers starting rotation in 2021!
