As the Detroit Lions prepare for the 2025 season, general manager Brad Holmes has a key decision to make regarding the future of the team. While Holmes has emphasized building through the draft, a recent proposal has raised the possibility of a bold move to acquire one of the NFL's elite defenders, Myles Garrett, from the Cleveland Browns.

The Proposed Trade for Myles Garrett
In this hypothetical trade scenario put forward by Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, the Lions would send several valuable assets to the Browns in exchange for Garrett, one of the top pass rushers in the league. The deal would look as follows:
Browns receive:
- 2025 first-round pick (No. 28)
- 2025 third-round pick
- 2026 first-round pick
- Quarterback Hendon Hooker
Lions receive:
- Myles Garrett
- 2026 fourth-round pick

This proposed trade would be a significant departure from the Lions' recent strategy of building through the draft. Holmes has made it clear that he prefers to extend his homegrown talent and carefully add free agents when necessary. Recent contract extensions for key players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Jared Goff, and others illustrate Detroit’s focus on retaining their core.

I’m sorry but this is a stupid trade. The Lions have drafted well they don’t need miles
They can get a decent pass rusher in the draft far cheaper. And they’ve already got two decent ones once hatch comes back. Plus they’ll also have their defensive tackles back
Their pass rush will be fine
Miles and Hatch though would be fun to see.
