It is no mystery whatsoever that former Detroit Lions defensive backs Darius Slay and Quandre Diggs are not big fans of how Lions head coach Matt Patricia runs a team.
On Friday, Slay hosted an Instagram Live and Diggs joined him for a chat that ended up lasting a couple of hours.
During the chat, Diggs and Slay reminisced about a well-documented story about when Patricia made the team practice in the snow, despite the Lions’ next four games being played indoors. Both players expressed how upset they were to have to practice outdoors in the snow and ice when there was a bigger risk for injury, especially when they had an indoor facility to practice in.
The highlight of the conversation (which was hilarious to listen to – CLICK HERE TO LISTEN *Mobile only) was when Diggs talked about the week leading up to the Lions final game of the 2018 season against the Green Bay Packers. Diggs said there were so many players on the team that was fed up with how the season went that there was talk about boycotting team meetings leading up to the game. Instead, they just decided to blare music in the locker room during the week and just joking around. Of course, the Lions went on to win the game 31-0.
The two also chatted about when Diggs was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs said that when the trade went down, players from around the league called him to congratulate him for being out of Detroit. Diggs said he was “Jumping up and down…yeah, we going to Seattle!” when he found out he was traded. Slay said that when the trade went down, he refused to talk to the Lions coaches, including defensive coordinator, Paul Pasqualoni for two weeks.
Other highlights from the Instagram chat:
