Have you ever seen the words ‘punter’ and ‘personal foul’ in the same sentence? Nope, we haven’t either.
This makes as much sense as deep sea astronomy. But it happened on Sunday.
In a game between the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, Rams punter John Hekker is the culprit of a 15-yard penalty.
Hekker punts the ball away then proceeds to lay a hit into Seahawks defensive end and former Lion Cliff Avril, warranting a flag on the play. Avril takes exception and charges after Hekker, who then smartly ducks out of the way.

Cowardly, but probably a good idea of him to get out of Avril’s way.
Later in the game when Hekker had to punt again, Avril came right after him along with Michael Bennett to scare him out of his shoes.
Hekker seems to have fun with all of it. Hey, he could’ve taken the shots from the Seahawks players and drew personal fouls from them to help his team.
