Where Do They Rank? Despite Recent Success, Red Wings Falling

The Red Wings were able to pick up a couple of crucial wins in Western Canada this week to bring their record to 22-10-9 at the midway point of the season. The back to back wins were not reflective for the Red Wings in this week’s editions of power rankings across the web. As a result, the Red Wings have dropped in some of the rankings we found.

The Red Wings began their six-game road trek with a loss in Vancouver, and continue their week with games in Edmonton, Calgary and Washington. This is a key stretch of the season for them.

The Red Wings are in the midst of a rough patch. They’ve built up a pretty nice cushion for themselves, but they have to get right soon. With seven losses in their last 11 games, four of which came in regulation, they’re starting to slip.

After losing six straight, the Red Wings are 3-2-0 in their past five but went 1-2-0 last week. They are in the middle of the playoff picture, not too far from the conference leaders yet not too far from the teams just outside of the top eight. With five straight road games on the docket, this is a quietly pivotal stretch.
