Wings unveil commemorative patch, campaign for JLA’s final season

With next season being the last that the Red Wings will play at historic Joe Louis Arena, the “Farewell Season at the Joe” promotion is being put in place by the team. This campaign will celebrate the 38-year history of the arena, which has hosted numerous historic Red Wings games, as well as entertainment acts.

“The Joe will always hold a special place in our hearts,” said Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Olympia Entertainment. “Our fans will never forget the championships won on the ice and witnessing once-in-a-lifetime performances on the stage. We know our fans have cherished memories of nearly four decades here at The Joe, and we’re excited to celebrate and relive those moments one last time as we continue preparation for the future at the Detroit Events Center.”

Red Wings jerseys will have a special commemorative patch featuring the words “Farewell season” and “The Joe 1979-2016”. It will also feature four stars, recognizing the four Stanley Cup championships the team has won in their tenure at the Joe.

There will also be numerous events to commemorate the final season at the Joe, including:

-Celebrations honoring the Stanley Cup championships, as well as big games held at the Joe
