Red Wings Brendan Perlini suffers gruesome injury after taking skate to face [Video]

There may not be a more scary injury in sports than when a hockey player takes a skate to the face.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened on Tuesday as Detroit Red Wings Brendan Perlini took a skate to the face from Henri Jokiharju of the Buffalo Sabres.

Thankfully, Perlini was able to skate off the ice with a towel held against his face.

Our thoughts are with Brendan as he recovers from this nasty looking injury.

UPDATE: According to Fox Sports Detroit, Perlini is getting stitched up at the rink because of course, he is a hockey player.
