2019 may not have been kind to the Detroit Red Wings in more ways than one, but they were able to finish the season on a high note.
Goaltender Jonathan Bernier made 34 saves for his first shutout of the season, while goals from Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Hronek (empty net) powered Detroit (10-28-3) to a 2-0 shutout win over the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena in the annual New Year's Eve game.

San Jose goaltender Martin Jones made 21 saves in a losing effort.
Bertuzzi's 14th goal of the season early in the 2nd period gave Detroit the 1-0 lead. The recently named All-Star deflected in a shot from defenseman Madison Bowey:
