The Detroit Red Wings may have only five weeks remaining in their season that will see them miss the playoffs for the 5th consecutive season, but they’re going to continue plugging along.
They’re currently without several key pieces of the team, some of whom could be used as trade bait in order to obtain future drafting assets.
Goaltender Jonathan Bernier and forwards Bobby Ryan and Sam Gagner are all on the shelf after suffering injuries. According to Blashill, Bernier won’t be available for tomorrow’s game against the the rival Tampa Bay Lightning, in who’s home arena they’ve not won a regular season game since 2011.
Meanwhile, Ryan and Gagner have practiced, but there hasn’t been an indication on whether or not they’ll be suiting up.
The NHL Trade Deadline is April 12, and all three players could potentially find themselves on the radar of teams looking to make a playoff push.
