The Detroit Red Wings weren’t able to replicate the success they had their past two games, and missed out on a three-game win streak with tonight’s 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at Little Caesars Arena.
Two goals from Kings captain Anze Kopitar and goals from Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli were all the offense that Los Angeles needed. Goaltender (and Port Huron, MI native) Jack Campbell made 24 saves for his fifth win of the season.
Filip Zadina scored Detroit’s first goal, banging in his own rebound for his second goal in three games. Madison Bowey, recently recalled from Grand Rapids after being waived, blasted home his second goal of the season late in the third period to cut the deficit to two goals.

Eric Comrie made 28 saves in his second start of the season for Detroit since being acquired from Arizona.
The Red Wings weren’t able to generate much offensive attack on Campbell through the first two frames of the game other than a few high-quality chances in the second period. Filip Zadina found himself all alone in front of Campbell, but his chance was shut down with a right pad save. Anthony Mantha was also stopped by Campbell on a partial breakaway.
Jeff Carter scored his 10th of the season by banging in a rebound past Comrie for the game’s opening goal. Kopitar would strike twice in the second period, including off a bad bounce off Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson’s skate.
Toffoli converted on a pretty passing play, taking a pass Nikolai Prokhorkin on an odd-man rush and scoring on the gaping net for his ninth of the season.
The Red Wings will next host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM EST.
