Young Red Wings defenseman out 5-6 months after surgery

Detroit Red Wings defensive prospect Jared McIsaac underwent successful surgery to repair his shoulder capsule on Thursday, the team announced.

His recovery time is slated for 5-6 months, so he will be unavailable until at least Thanksgiving, meaning he’ll be missing the team development camp in late June and training camp in September.

McIsaac was Detroit’s fourth selection in the 2018 NHL Draft. While with the Halifax Mooseheads, McIssac put up 62 points during the regular season, good for second overall in the Quebec junior league in defensive scoring. He then put up 16 points in 22 playoff games.

He currently ranked second in Mooseheads franchise history in defenseman scoring with 141 career points.
