Always at the front lines of Detroit Sports.

The futility of the 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings season just won’t stop.

The Pittsburgh Penguins added to their misery on Saturday night with a 5-3 victory at Little Caesars Arena, sending the Red Wings to their 11th consecutive defeat. It’s been nearly a full month since they last won a game (November 12 at Anaheim). Their record is a ghastly 7-21-3 – easily the worst out of all 31 NHL teams.

Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin, Chad Ruhwedel, John Marino, and Dominik Kahun all scored for the Penguins (17-9-4).

Newly acquired forward Robby Fabbri stayed hot, scoring his seventh goal of the year and sixth with Detroit with a power play tally in the second period. Filip Hronek added his sixth of the year in the third period, while Dylan Larkin added a late power play goal to cut Pittsburgh’s lead to one.

Goaltender Eric Comrie made his Red Wings debut in the third period after starter Jonathan Bernier was pulled after allowing four goals on 19 shots.
