Detroit Red Wings forward Darren Helm is a little lighter in the wallet today.
He was fined $5,000, the maximum amount allowed under the CBA for his slash on Calgary’s Elias Lindholm during last night’s 5-1 loss.
Lindholm had previously just elbowed Helm, who then retaliated with the slash that resulted in his ejection from the game. Lindholm was assessed a 2-minute minor.
Despite the fine, Helm will not be suspended.
