Detroit Red Wings forward Gus Nyquist could be in some hot water with the NHL Department of Player Safety after he sent a cheap shot high stick to the face of Minnesota's Jared Spurgeon in the 1st period of their Sunday afternoon tilt in St. Paul.
Now, Nyquist isn't known as a dirty player by any standards, but this was completely uncalled for and you can bet the incident will be reviewed for supplemental discipline. For what it's worth, Nyquist was assessed a 4-minute double minor on the play and Spurgeon returned to the game later in the period. Is this worth a suspension or just a fine?
