The Detroit Red Wings were able to stop a three-game losing streak last night at home against the New York Islanders, holding on for a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Dylan Larkin and Michael Rasmussen.
However, the player they have most to thank is goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic, who turned in another strong performance with 33 saves on the night – several of them on high quality scoring chances by the opposition.
Following the win, Nedeljkovic was full of praise for the fans in attendance at Little Caesars Arena.
“Losing three games in a row, it sets you back immensely,” Nedeljkovic said. “To come back and get this win was huge. We had a loud crowd tonight, it was awesome to play in front of. That’s what you want, that energy, that excitement. It makes it way better to play when you have them behind you.”
Among the highlight worthy saves Nedeljkovic made on the night included shutting down an Islanders 3-on-1 opportunity, preserving his team’s one goal lead late in the 2nd period:
