“With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Detroit Red Wings select Alexis Lafreniere, LW, Rimouski (QMJHL).”

Those are the words Red Wings fans were hoping they would hear when NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announces the first overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft but as we know, luck was not on the Wings’ side as they were awarded the No. 4 overall pick in the NHL Draft Lottery.
The question is, who will Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman select at No. 4?
Assuming that Quinton Byfield and Tim Stutzle are both off the board when the Wings are on the clock, many believe they will select C Marco Rossi, C Cole Perfetti, or LW Lucas Raymond.
Well, according to Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News, Yzerman will pass on all of those players and select the top defensive prospect, Jamie Drysdale, with the No. 4 pick.

From The Detroit News:
“The Wings need help everywhere — literally every position. With a puck-moving defenseman so important these days, Drysdale can’t be passed on.”
Kulfan is absolutely right about one thing. The Red Wings need help everywhere.
Fans should not be surprised at all if Drysdale is the pick. (Also, if Drysdale is the pick, you can bet I will be first in line to by a jersey!)
