The Detroit Red Wings got the player they wanted, selecting Swedish winger Lucas Raymond with the 4th overall selection in the 1st round of tonight’s 2020 NHL Draft.

However, according to Yzerman, Raymond isn’t going to be playing with the Red Wings any time soon.
“He’s playing in Sweden – my understanding of the rules, I don’t think he’d be eligible to come play for us this year,” Yzerman said. “I don’t see it realistically, I think – even if we could, it’s still early. I would assume he’ll play the entire season in Frolunda.”
