Any good feelings the Detroit Red Wings were giving their fans after a quick run of five straight games gaining at least a point in the standings have quickly evaporated.

Following Wednesday's 6-0 whitewashing against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Red Wings (7-17-3) have been shut out in two straight games and haven't scored a goal in 156:38 seconds of hockey. Additionally, they've now lost 11 games this season by at least three goals or more; the same number of games they lost by that many goals all of last year.

It was particularly embarrassing against the Maple Leafs. Goaltender Jimmy Howard was injured in the first period, meaning that the team had to dress their emergency goaltender while a flu-stricken Jonathan Bernier was forced to play the rest of the way.

Things haven't been helped by the absence of leading goal scorer Anthony Mantha, who hasn't played since sustaining an injury last week.

Unless things change in a hurry (and we've been given no indication that'll happen), the Red Wings are bound to be another draft lottery team this summer.
