Detroit Red Wings forward Valtterri Filppula debuted for the team back in December of 2005, and his career has come full circle.
The 2008 Stanley Cup champion elected to return to the Red Wings after several years away from the Motor City following his departure in 2013, and he’s skating in his 1,000th career game tonight against the New York Rangers.
Filppula was acknowledged on the scoreboard to a nice round of applause from the home crowd.
