On Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings used the No. 4 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft to select F Lucas Raymond.
Following the draft, Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman and director of amateur scouting Kris Draper spoke to the media about the pick.
While talking about the pick and where the Red Wings organization currently is, Draper quoted Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia.
“We know we have work to do,” Draper said.
Those words closely mirror what Patricia said recently about a 9-7 Lions team he inherited after Jim Caldwell was fired.
But there is one huge difference. The Red Wings were the worst team in the NHL during the 2019-20 season by a wide margin and there is no doubt that they have a lot of work to do before they are a team capable of contending for a Stanely Cup.
