The Detroit Red Wings are already dealing with a handful of minor injuries, and another was added to the list on Friday night.
Frans Nielsen left Detroit’s game against the New York Islanders at Little Caesars Arena in the first period and did not return. He totaled just 1:53 of ice time through three shifts before exiting.

According to head coach Jeff Blashill, there isn’t a clear timetable regarding how long Nielsen will be out of the lineup, but didn’t seem to think it would keep him out by the time the regular season begins October 5.
