Two games, two wins for the Detroit Red Wings. For the first time since the ill-fated 2019-20 NHL season, Hockeytown's hockey team has earned four of a possible four points to kick off the new campaign thanks to last night's 5-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. However, the win may have come at a cost as gritty forward Tyler Bertuzzi was injured when he blocked a shot and did not return to the game.
What happened to Tyler Bertuzzi?
He was struck in the hand early in the 2nd period and immediately went to the dressing room. The team would soon release an update via Twitter that Bertuzzi's night was finished.
According to head coach Derek Lalonde, the team will be re-evaluating him the day after tomorrow.

However, the positive news is that Detroit got offensive contributions from several newcomers to their lineup over the summer, including David Perron and Dominik Kubalik. Meanwhile, Detroit also got goals from captain Dylan Larkin as well as Jakub Vrana. Goaltender Alex Nedljkovic, making his first start after Ville Husso started Friday night's game, made 37 saves.
The Red Wings will be back in action on Monday night at Little Caesars Arena against the Los Angeles Kings.
