It's no secret that the Detroit Red Wings were absolutely screwed in the 2020 NHL Draft Lottery in late June. Dead last in the NHL by a wide margin prior to the COVID-19 pandemic pausing the season, the Red Wings instead had to settle for the 4th overall selection.
And now, we know who will have the chance to draft superstar forward Alexis Lafreniere first overall.
That honor now goes to the New York Rangers, who finished with 79 points on the year, 40 more than the Red Wings did.
The Red Wings decided to respond via Twitter with a simple GIF that sums up how we're all feeling right now in the Motor City:

Yep, that about covers it. Do better, NHL. There's no reason why Detroit should not be selecting first overall later this year.
