Up next for the Red Wings is a local product in the form of center Amadeus Lombardi, an 5’10 Ontario native who scored 18 goals with 41 assists in 67 games played for the Flint Firebirds of the OHL; Detroit had originally received the selection as part of a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2021 fifth-round pick

Meanwhile, GM Steve Yzerman continued his work by taking help on the defensive side of the puck with the 137th overall selection (5th round). Defenseman Tnias Mathurin is on his way to Detroit after having scored three goals and 12 assists in 44 games played last season for the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. Mathurin is a native of Ontario, and is the 126th overall ranked prospect per NHL Central Scouting.

And as you can see, he certainly has some gifted offensive abilities despite his reputation as a defensive defenseman.
