Red Wings’ Tomas Tatar Named NHL’s 2nd Star of the Week

The NHL has named Tomas Tatar the 2nd Star of the Week, for the week of January 11th.

It’s the second time this season that Tatar has received 2nd Star honors. He was also named the 2nd Star of the Week back in November, for the week of the 23rd. In that stretch, he scored 5 points in three games.

This current stretch saw Tatar produce 5 goals, one being a game-winner against Nashville, and 2 assists. Tatar helped the Red Wings in their 6-4 comeback win on Sunday against Buffalo with his 21st goal of season, leading all Red Wings, and his 7th multi-point game of the year.

He currently sits tied with Gustav Nyquist for 3rd in overall scoring on the team; each have 34 points in 46 games. They’re both one point behind Pavel Datsyuk, (35 pts, 35 GP), and 7 behind team-leading captain Henrik Zetterberg (41 pts, 46 GP).
