It’s NHL Trade Deadline day, and the Detroit Red Wings are once again sellers. They’ve already sent defenseman Mike Green to the Edmonton Oilers, and now they’ve made another deal with former GM Ken Holland.

Speedy forward and restricted free agent to-be Andreas Athanasiou has been dealt to the Oilers.
So far this season, Athanasiou hasn’t come close to repeating his career-high 30 goals of last season. He’s scored just 10 goals and 14 assists in 46 games — along with an astounding NHL-worst minus-45 plus-minus rating.
The Blue Jackets are attempting a playoff push in a crowded Eastern Conference. They’re currently tied with the Carolina Hurricanes in points, and are only eight points back of the Metropolitan Division-leading Washington Capitals.
