The trade was reported nearly a half hour after the NHL Trade Deadline passed at 3:00 PM EST, though several moves had yet to be confirmed.
After signing a four-year contract this past summer, Mantha has severely underwhelmed this season, having scored only 11 goals in 42 games.
Meanwhile, Panik comes to Detroit a veteran of over 500 NHL games, having scored three goals with six assists with the Capitals this season. Vrana brings Stanley Cup winning experience, having been a part of the 2018 Cup-winning Capitals team; he’s tallied 11 goals and 14 assists this season so far.
Great trade. Mantha was a paper lion.
