Justin Abdelkader has officially been placed on waivers for the purposes of a compliance buyout of his contract.

He has three years remaining on his deal, a 7 year, $29.5 million pact he signed in 2015. However, his production has fallen off in every year since his career high 44 points in 2015.
In 746 career games, all with Detroit, Abdelkader has scored 106 goals with 146 assists. The former Michigan State Spartan was originally drafted 42nd overall in the 2005 Draft.
