Could we soon be seeing a 17-game NFL season? It looks like a possibility.
While talks to reach a new labor deal are ongoing before the current CBA deal expires next year, it appears as though a 17-game season is part of the talks. Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports:
“I think there’s some real intensity and opportunity over the next few weeks,” one person familiar with the state of the negotiations said, adding that the participants are “working hard” to complete a deal.
Owners have shown a willingness to make concessions to get the players to put aside their concerns about a 17-game season, according to people on both sides of the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private negotiations.”
Of course, a longer regular season could mean a shorter pre-season, which many are in favor of. But what would that mean for players who use the exhibition as professional tryouts?
When it is all said and done, do you want to see a longer NFL regular season?
