According to reports, the 2017 NFL salary cap will be a bit less than commissioner Roger Goodell anticipated it would be.
At the annual Super Bowl news conference, Goodell said the cap was “projected to increase by $15 million a club” which would have put the cap at roughly $170 million.
A league official has said the actual salary cap for 2017 will be $167 million.

If that number stands true, the Detroit Lions will have about $31.4 million in cap space at this moment.
