Report: Boston Bruins hold firm on contract offer to pending UFA D Torey Krug

The Bruins are reportedly not budging on their contract offer to Torey Krug.

According to a report from TSN Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli, the Bruins aren't budging on their offer to Krug, which is a reported six-year deal worth an AAV of $6.5 million. However, the door is reportedly still open after Krug explores his options:

Krug, who was born in Royal Oak and played collegiate hockey at Michigan State, has been linked to the Red Wings as a potential target of GM Steve Yzerman and Co.

There are openings on the Red Wings blue line after it was announced that the team will not be offering new deals to the likes of Jonathan Ericsson, Trevor Daley, and Madison Bowey.

Signed by the Bruins as an undrafted free agent in 2012, Krug has appeared in 523 total NHL regular season games, registering 67 goals and 270 assists, and has twice played in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman confirms two additional players won't return

The Detroit Red Wings wrapped up a busy draft day by sharing the news that next year's version of the team will look far different than 2019-20.

In addition to defenseman Madison Bowey not receiving a qualifying offer, GM Steve Yzerman said that the same goes for forwards Brendan Perlini and Cristoffer Ehn.

Ehn, a Swedish native, was originally selected in the fourth round (No. 106) of the 2014 NHL Draft by Detroit, and has played in 114 total NHL games, registering five goals and eight assists.

Perlini was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes 12th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft, and later played for the Chicago Blackhawks before being dealt to Detroit last October. He finished the 2019-20 season with one goal and three assists in 39 games.

Both players will now become unrestricted free agents.
