Detroit Lions Week 7 Injury Report: Update on Jamal Agnew and T.J. Lang

After defeating the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, the Detroit Lions, who were on their bye week, were able to sit back and watch the NFL’s Week 6 games.

This week, things will be back to normal as the Lions prepare for a trip down south to take on the Miami Dolphins in what will be an extremely important game for both teams. The Lions are currently 2-3 and need a win to stay in the hunt in the NFC North while the Dolphins, who moved to 4-2 with an overtime win over the Chicago Bears, are tied for 1st place in the AFC East with the New England Patriots.

One of the best parts of a bye week is that teams have the chance to get rested and healthy. For the Detroit Lions, that was certainly the case as they could be getting back one of their key offensive linemen this week.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lions guard T.J. Lang, who suffered a concussion a couple of weeks ago, has improved and could play against the Dolphins.

“Despite suffering at least five concussions since 2015, Lang is feeling better and is no longer experiencing any fogginess, according to the source. If he passes his baseline test this week — and there is optimism and an expectation that he will — Lang would be expected to play next Sunday at Miami after Detroit’s bye this week.”

Unfortunately, the report on cornerback and return man Jamal Agnew is not as great. According to Schefter, Agnew will be placed on IR by the Lions, though that does not necessarily mean his season is over.

“The Detroit Lions are planning to place All-Pro returner and cornerback Jamal Agnew on injured reserve this week because of a knee injury he suffered against the Green Bay Packers last week, a source tells ESPN.

But Agnew would be a candidate to be activated off injured reserve later this season if Detroit is making a playoff push, according to the source.”

The Lions will certainly need all of the help they can get this coming Sunday against a Dolphins team that plays much better at home than on the road.
