The 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft is expected to take place this week and according to a report from Draft Analyst, the Detroit Lions were among the teams who checked out former West Virginia wide receiver Marcus Simms.

Simms, who is 5-11, 188 lbs, hauled in 87 catches for 1,457 (16.7 YPC) and eight touchdowns in three seasons at West Virginia. He also returned 41 kicks for 992 yards (24.2 YPR) and returned 23 punt for 157 yards (6.8 YPR).
Though Simms seems to fit what the Lions are doing, the team could avoid him because of his past run-ins with the law. According to Lions Wire, Simms has “two separate DUIs and a marijuana offense.” In addition, Dane Brugler of The Athletic reports that Simms has had issues with playing time and coaching in the past.
When it comes down to it, I highly doubt the Lions will select Simms, despite his on-field abilities.
