On Sunday, the Detroit Lions went out and signed free agent RB Adrian Peterson to a 1-year deal, reuniting him with his former offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell.

Though Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia would not confirm it, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Peterson was told during the “courting process” that he could be their Week 1 starter.
“We’ll see,” Patricia said Monday when asked how big a part of the game plan Peterson will be in Week 1. “It’s Monday and he just got here, so we’ll see how everything goes.”
When Peterson signed, there was some speculation that it would take him some time to get up to speed with the Lions playbook. Well, apparently the Lions do not think that’s an issue at all.
All of that being said, even if Peterson does get the start in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, expect for Kerryon Johnson and rookie D’Andre Swift to also get touches throughout the game.
