According to a report from Mike Garafolo of ESPN, the Detroit Lions are signing quarterback Kyle Allen. The Lions now have Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker, Jake Fromm, and Allen as quarterbacks on their roster.

Who is Kyle Allen?
Allen, who is 29, was originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent back in 2018. Since that time, he has played in 31 games (19 starts), completing 62.7% of his passes for 4,753 yards and 26 touchdowns to go along with 21 interceptions.
During his 2019 season with the Panthers, Allen started 12 games. In those games, he completed 62% of his passes for 3,322 yards and 17 touchdowns to go along with 16 interceptions.
Why it Matters
Obviously, the Detroit Lions will not roll with four quarterbacks on their 2025 53-man roster, so it will be very interesting to see who makes the final cut. There has been plenty of speculation that the Lions could trade Hendon Hooker, and this has plenty of people chatting. That said, it is not uncommon at all for a team to enter camp with four quarterbacks, so there is no need to overreact one way or the other.
