Report: Detroit Red Wings to place Anthony Mantha on IR, recall Jimmy Howard

According to reports, the Detroit Red Wings will be placing F Anthony Mantha on Injured Reserve, following a scary moment in Saturday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Late in the game, Mantha was slammed to the ice, hitting his head and being forced to the locker room.

Upon conclusion of the game, Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill immediately ruled Mantha out for Sunday’s game.

In addition, the Red Wings announced that goaltender Jimmy Howard has been recalled and removed from long-term IR.
