The 2020 MLB trade deadline is just two days away and according to a report from The Athletic, the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs have been in trade talks. Those talks have reportedly included the Cubs inquiring about Tigers OF Cameron Maybin.
From The Athletic:
“The Cubs and Tigers have been active in talks, according to sources, that have included Chicago asking on veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin.”
Maybin, who is 33, is batting .256 with one home run and two RBIs in 13 games so far this season. He is currently in a one-year deal with the Tigers and he would be owned roughly $280,000 for the remainder of the 2020 season.
If the Tigers do deal Maybin to the Cubs, do not expect much of a return at all as he will be a rental backup outfielder.
