The Detroit Tigers are continuing their search for Ron Gardenhire’s full time replacement following his announcement last month that he was leaving the game due to health reasons.
And while several candidates have emerged as potential possibilities, including former Tigers slugger Marcus Thames, another former Tiger’s name has been thrown into the hat.

According to The Athletic writer Rob Biertempfel, the Tigers have interviewed former utility man Don Kelley for the job. However, he’s not regarded as one of the leading candidates:
During his MLB career, Kelly played every position on the field, even pitching. He first came to the Tigers in 2009, where he remained until 2015. After his playing career ended, he served as a scout and assistant on the player development staff before being promoted to Major League Scout. He also later served as the first base coach of the Houston Astros, and is currently the bench coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
