REPORT: Free agent NT trying to work out contract with Detroit Lions

With Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison reportedly wanting a contract extension, the Detroit Lions would be wise to have a backup plan.

Just in case.

That backup plan may be NT Domata Peko, who played with the Denver Broncos for the past two seasons.

According to TMZ, Peko had a “nice visit” with the Lions and that his agent is “trying to work some stuff out” for a contract.

Peko, who is 34, played in 30 games (started all 30) for the Broncos over the past two seasons. During that time, he recorded 69 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He also played one season of college football with Michigan State in 2005, where he 53 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 11 games.

Though Peko is not in the same league as Harrison, it would be wise for the Lions to add him to the roster because even if Harrison is ready to roll, the NT position is one which is thin after Snacks.
