According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, league sources have told him that Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase would be the favorite to become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions if Jim Caldwell is fired.

Gase, who is 37-years-old, is from Ypsilanti, Michigan. He began his NFL career with the Lions during the 2003-2004 season while serving as a scouting assistant. He then was named offensive assistant by the Lions for the 2005-2006 season and was the team’s quarterback coach in 2007.
Here is an excerpt from La Canfora’s report:
“Gase, who began his pro career with Detroit, remains close to several members of the Lions’ front office. He would be interested in coaching in Detroit and is held in high esteem by former NFL general manager Ernie Acorsi, who is consulting for the team on potential GM and coach hires. While the Lions will not finalize a decision on the fate of coach Jim Caldwell until after the season, Gase will be a top target should Caldwell not return.”
What do you think Nation, is Gase the guy the Lions should be targeting if Caldwell is indeed fired?
